The Story Behind the Book
With a baby shower organised for one of Stevie’s dearest friends, in lieu of gifts, her only request was for her guests to bring a book for the baby with a written message. So naturally, Stevie took on the challenge of writing and illustrating her own. The freestyle poem took shape as she drew upon moments from her own journey of motherhood. Stevie knew she wanted to include the difficult parts, balanced with the beauty of it. A gentle nod to the reality of becoming a mother. She waited patiently as her friend unwrapped her gift, she read it in silence, and then turned to Stevie; and they both cried. What a journey it is to become a mother and to support others doing the same.
